Getting Baptized

Baptism Class 7 p.m. Mar. 19

Baptism is a personal step of obedience to the command of Christ. Anyone who has made a genuine, full commitment of their life to Christ should be baptized. If you are interested in being baptized, please join us for a baptism class at 7 p.m. Mar. 19 in the Middle School Room. Those who complete the class, taught by an eFree Pastor, will be baptized during Celebration Sunday on Mar. 26. For more information about the class please email Janet Childs, eFree Office Coordinator, at janet@kearneyefree.com or call the church office (308.237.5968).

Baptism Beliefs

Baptism is an awesome celebration of life change! As we confess our sins and failures to God, and acknowledge Christ as savior and Lord, He immediately forgives us and brings us into His family. He secures our life with God for eternity (John 1:12; Romans 6:23; Romans 10:9-10; 1 John 1:9-10). To celebrate Christ’s death, and our new life, Jesus gave us baptism.

Baptism is both a gift, through which we identify with Christ in his life, death, and resurrection, and it is a command, in which we commit to follow Him (Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 6:1-5). It is the outward demonstration of the inward reality that you have been forgiven, that the Holy Spirit now dwells in you, that you are a child of our Father in Heaven. Baptism is intended to be a one-time celebration of new life in Christ, a public proclamation of faith after one acknowledges Jesus as Savior and Lord. As such, we invite all to be baptized after becoming followers of Christ, and as we understand the meaning behind this wonderful celebration.
